Pros
When you are off from work, you are told nothing is expected of you. But this is wrong. Take this time and take vacation, even though you are on call 24/7/365. Can be off for weeks at a time.
Cons
Long hours with no days off until the job is complete (can be 5 days to 6 months of non-stop working), management doesn't know their job or willing to learn it, and too much competition between Field Engineers. The competition is to be better than other FE's and not helping each other out. Too much judgement on the younger FE's.
