Pros

GE subsidiary, so the training/certification is directly relavant to one of the largest OEM in the US.

Cons

Absolutely useless corporate structure. You will never know what is happening next week. You will go years without receiving training needed for advancement if you are part of the in crowd. In this regard hard work and technical knowledge are not rewarded, your advancement is directly related to purely social factors. This means, in my experience, that typically you can trust mid level employees more than you can any level 3 technician. If you request to follow the rest and relaxation schedule of 6 weeks on 1 week off, you will be removed from sites, leads and site management will communicate between each other that you are unreliable. You either work your life away neglecting family, or you sit on the bench for everything but the absolute busiest times of the year. I will say 98% of the techs I have worked with have been fantastic people, and it is easy to form cohesion and understanding of the generally stressful situation that travel and dangerous work brings. However, Fieldcore is a prime example of the adage that a person will always be promoted to their point of incompetence. Fieldcore management has said that they have every intention of paying a median wage to their technicians. I received an 80 cent raise in 2022, a year of massive inflation. In speaking to pretty much everyone I’ve worked with, there are several companies with much lighter workloads and much more lucrative compensation.
