Pros

This company houses some of the brightest and most compassionate colleagues I've ever had the pleasure of working alongside. Whenever you need assistance, there's always someone highly skilled and willing to lend a hand. The company's mission is commendable, particularly when compared to other healthcare data companies. We benefit from the guidance of medical experts, practicing oncologists, and clinical professionals who actively shape our data curation. Compensation seems reasonable given the company's size and nature, though opinions may vary among different job roles and departments. For designers, it's advantageous that we have a CDMO advocating for design at the leadership level, ensuring that designers don't have to report to Sales, Marketing, or Product teams.

Cons

Flatiron is currently in a transformative phase. This transition has led to a few key observations: - The organization lacks a clear product management vision, notably without a CPO, and the product VPs end up reporting to Sales/GM. - Long-tenured Product Managers often struggle with user-facing products and services, as their expertise lies in data pipeline management. We don't have a unifying product management philosophy - Hiring for new Product Managers sometimes prioritizes the wrong qualities. - Many PMs do not understand the value of design, qualitative, or quantitative research in the early phases of product definition. - Decision-making tends to be overly cautious and slow, even when it doesn't directly impact patient care or physicians. Getting approval for proposals, even at the VP level, can be challenging, affecting engineers and designers.

Pros

Smart, kind colleagues that all care about the work Inspiring mission Flexibility New CEO/COO have a direction No toxicity

Cons

There are constant changes - reorgs, layoffs, new leadership, etc. Some things are unnecessarily complex and cumbersome but the new direction is focused on tackling this Limited promotions and opportunities for career advancement in general

Pros

Flexible work, anytime and anywhere. Flexible number of hours. Meaningful work. Good managers.

Cons

Terrible pay and poor career opportunities. No raises have been given for nearly 6 years, during which time cost of living has soared 35% or more, and during which time they've actually reduced benefits (decreased bonuses and continuing education fund). There is no financial incentive to work beyond the bare minimum because of the terrible pay and lackluster bonuses. I applied to a higher level position which perfectly matched my background and experience; despite working for them (without a raise) loyally with quality work for 5+ years, I didn't even get an interview. There is just no future at this company.
