Pros

The people at Flexport were/are some of the brightest, compassionate, and hardworking individuals I've had the opportunity to work with and for. While I say that, the type of folks they started hiring the last half of 2022 and into 2023 are slowly moving away from that dynamic. Most of my time was exceptional, provided tons of development, and really felt like we were working on great things. Lastly, shout out to the workplace team - often overlooked but if you've got to come into the office, you can trust this team will deliver the best working experience possible.

Cons

So many - not just the layoffs that occurred in January after a previous commitment from the Co-CEO and Founder. Decision Making: Impossible to get senior leadership to align with each other, make decisions, implement programs and processes built for said decisions (if ever made), and actually communicating across the board what decisions are being made from the top down. Everyone is always on a different page, making things move very slow. Even with Dave Clark's "single threaded leadership" mentality, decision making and ownership is still all over the place. Unprofessional: Flexport used to be a place where you actually received constructive feedback and people championed your successes. It slowly became very unprofessional at all levels as it became the norm to bash people (still employed or no longer with the company). Pay: Honestly, pay here is a joke. Unless you were part of the mass hiring from Amazon (especially sr. leadership) or an account executive killing your quota, the pay is likely far below the market. And good luck making your case for more money if you move markets into a more expensive market, they're quick to take your pay away but will never adjust upwards when moving to a higher geographical market. Even if you come in with a high salary as one of the big tech hires, just know as they keep hiring all those people are making more than you. Product: Most of the products honestly are terrible. They call some offerings products and in the end it's just throwing a bunch of headcount at managing excel sheets in the background. Most of their offerings are far fetched from what actually goes on in the background. Flexport is notorious for overpromising and painting a shiny picture over the lack of actual tech. So many things I could add onto this, but would advise to think critically before joining.

Pros

Lots of really smart and nice people at the company. The culture has improved a lot recently. There's a good amount of room to develop and jump on things that you might not be exposed to in other companies.

Cons

The company moves a little too fast at times and maybe overlooks things that are working well and don't necessarily need to be changed for "efficiency" at the risk of doing things incorrectly. It can be hard to move up in some departments. work/life balance varies a lot by team.
