Pros

As a graduate student, you can get paid as a teaching assistant (TA), research assistant (RA), a consultant, or a grader. Depending on what you want to do, funding and availability, you can choose how much you want to work besides your classes.

Cons

If you are a TA be prepared to deal with some rude undergrads at times. Also, there is little to zero funding for the summer semesters so be prepared to find a job during the summer so that you can keep paying rent. If you are an international student you should have savings or work with some professors that have grants because after your 1 summer there is virtually no chance of ever teaching during the summer. Also Tallahassee is horrible specially if you have allergies.

Pros

Great opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, flexible part-time hours that work well with class schedules, and supportive faculty mentors who guide you through academic projects.

Cons

Pay can be low for the amount of work involved, tasks can sometimes be repetitive, and workload may vary significantly depending on the research project and professor.
