Adjunct work is ok - Adjunct Professor Florida State University Employee Review

Pros

Compared to other universities and college FSU pays adjuncts well. (approx. $5000 per course in my department) Quality Students Fair Amount of Freedom

Cons

Most of the cons have to do with being an adjunct. No contract, no idea if classes will be available. They limit you to 4 classes per year. The university seems to be moving away from using adjuncts due to the bad publicity about adjuncts in higher education, and to avoid issues with the Affordable Care Act.

Pros

Great opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, flexible part-time hours that work well with class schedules, and supportive faculty mentors who guide you through academic projects.

Cons

Pay can be low for the amount of work involved, tasks can sometimes be repetitive, and workload may vary significantly depending on the research project and professor.
