Pros

State benefits are great, students are fun to be around, and most of the employees really like contributing to a top institution. There is a lot of opportunity for professional development and many job opportunities.

Cons

Faculty and staff are treated very differently when it comes to salaries. Staff (OPS, USPS, and A&P) rarely receive pay raises yet faculty continue to get bumps. The staff morale is an issue across many academic and student affairs departments. Being a top 20 institution brings a lot of pressure to perform and assume responsibilities that you were not hired for. When people leave it's not uncommon for their duties to be added to staff rather than rehired.

Pros

Great opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, flexible part-time hours that work well with class schedules, and supportive faculty mentors who guide you through academic projects.

Cons

Pay can be low for the amount of work involved, tasks can sometimes be repetitive, and workload may vary significantly depending on the research project and professor.
