Pros

Very flexible schedules, generous allotment of time off, excellent choices for healthcare coverage, working on campus is excellent as many services are in walking distance and the hustle and bustle of the students keeps the energy level very high.

Cons

First off it is very dangerous. Forbes magazine has rated Tallahassee as the 8th most dangerous city in the country. I worked at FSU for a year and a half and there were two shootings within two blocks of my office. Very low salaries and no opportunity for annual raises or bonuses. The managers have little to no training in HR, EEO, HIPPA laws, etc. so some of the behavior is appalling. The focus is on the football team beyond anything else so you have to become accustomed to bad press about the ethics of the organization. You have to pay for parking.

Pros

Great opportunity to gain hands-on research experience, flexible part-time hours that work well with class schedules, and supportive faculty mentors who guide you through academic projects.

Cons

Pay can be low for the amount of work involved, tasks can sometimes be repetitive, and workload may vary significantly depending on the research project and professor.
