Pros

-Great job satisfaction as a part of major megaprojects -Travel opportunities are available if desired -Wide array of assignments -Field assignments offer a great way to gain -Great pay is there if you want to sacrifice for it (field assignments can be VERY lucrative)

Cons

-VERY risk averse company, results in a severe lack of projects, especially during most recent recession -Multiple managers cause a lack of communication regarding performance and advancement. Project and discipline leads are who you interact with day to day and see actual job performance. Functional lead actually determines placement and advancement, however has little day to day contact. This can lead to a feeling of confusion as to performance and advancement opportunities. -Field assignments can be the only way to survive a downturn, however they can really strain family life, as time off is difficult since many construction projects are 24x7. This can cause what was thought to be an off weekend to be a 12 hour Saturday and Sunday. Great for a single guy/gal however.
