Unhealthy and unprofessional work environment, no work/life balance, job and sales plan would constantly change to stagnate wages, high turn over rate, low pay for comparable jobs down the street.
You are lied to from the beginning, your pay is low compared to exactly comparable jobs without any extra stock options to come close to making up for it.
Example 'We offer unlimited PTO!' - Turned out to be a lie and we were told how to request PTO...They took away days we could work from home, etc. Basically any benefit offered by a company in 2020 when a job can be done from home.
They lie to customers as well and a manager at a town hall said that lying to customers was part of being a startup...?
Once we hit a certain number of employees benefits including great health insurance were slashed.
Multiple missteps with major/flagship product launches. Fuse was launched literally YEARS too early (still not released while writing this), but they had no problem taking payment in full as "reservations".
Form 3/3L release was a series of bad leadership decisions after another; Hurting sales reps reputations with no acknowledgement or corrective action taken by senior leadership. Employees who spoke up were ostracized and/or let go.
CEO and upper management are incompetent and immature; They lack the capacity to take responsibility and acknowledge what they have done wrong. Cult like atmosphere, you're either in or you are out based on how popular you are or how long you have worked there.
CEO and upper mgmt expect everyone to have an "employee number 3 at the company" attitude when in reality you're probably #500+ with a couple hundred shares and low pay...
HR is non existent and run by unqualified people who have worked there "since the beginning" and are untouchable, hence the cult like work environment that is only perpetuated by this group.
Told they have progressive and forward thinking staff/workplace atmosphere - Last manager before quitting was outright racist and homophobic. Company did not seem to care about how he makes Formlabs look or how it affected our team's moral.
Company designed so only sales people have direct lines and working phones = Sales ends up doing all other departments jobs that require customer facing interactions. A logistics team that does NOT call or speak with customers...? As people quit, they are never replaced leading to more and more jobs falling onto people who should not be doing them.
Upper mgmt also mentioned we don't have money to pay people higher salaries, and people should be grateful for what they are already getting, all while the company spends $60k a WEEK, that's $60,000/week on lunch that you have no control over- Hope you like all vegan and veggie options! All of the "perks" they try to confuse and lure you with are not as good as they seem:
We have beer and cider! - Reality: Keg is always tapped or Foamy
We have Ping pong! - Who cares? I'm at work and it ends up starting arguments/it's disruptive (people got banned from playing over game related arguments)
We have a full kitchen with snacks! - So I can work here longer and never go home??
All of the perks they offer = Less money on your paycheck and excuses for them to tell you how great you have it working there. Always remember: You can't pay your rent in ping pong games and foamy beer.
Too many kids starting their first job at this company too, don't work here if you're looking for a professional environment, basically 'high school + printers'.
Find a job that will not use and abuse you, too many amazing opportunities in Boston and Greater Boston Area to fall victim.
High turn over rates and brain-drain occurring are not a curse at this place, they are a symptom of a diseased and delusional management team.
