Pros

Made some great work connections.

Cons

If there are two phrases I hear said many times, it would be “There’s so much potential” and the second, “You should feel lucky to be working here.” Both summarize this company's work environment. If you are just starting out in your career, this place is great, however seasoned professionally will quickly realize that something is amis. They call it the Formlabs 3, meaning most do not stick around for any longer than 3 years and the ones that do, talented or talentless, move into managerial roles. This is in fact one of the reasons, I believe for the chaos within. Underpaid, understaffed in some departments, overstaffed in others. There may be people to send emails and to manage work, there just does not seem to be enough employees to actually do the work. When a company has to ask everyone to write a description of what they do for the company, you know something is wrong. As people have left at such a scale that the leadership does not even know the professional backgrounds or responsibilities of its employees they hired. The management in many cases started their professional careers at Formlabs and because of this, they lack a clear understanding of the roles and or processes needed for the company to operate correctly. Again, “There’s so much potential.” As a professional that started outside of this startup, now unicorn. I would recommend staying away, or if you are just starting out, take the opportunity to learn. But like the song saying goes “You can checkout anytime you like”, you should checkout before you realize that when you do go to another professional company, the structure and processes at Formlabs are wildly disjoined. 3 years and they give you a backpack. Grab it and be on your way, if you can last that long.
