Pros

The employees, for the most part, are friendly and helpful. The company has a very high standard for employees. The location near Manele Bay is spectacular. There's a shuttle to Lana'i City proper, which runs every hour. I would highly recommend doing shopping there because the restaurants in the resort are either super expensive or off-limits to employees.

Cons

Where could I begin with this one......... There's total breakdown in communication in like I've never seen before in Housekeeping. Housekeeping manager micromanages you on a nightly basis. In other words, no matter how good of a job you do, you will never deem trustworthy. In addition, manager also belittles her employees. She would find every little thing you did wrong and calls you out on it. You're basically walking on eggshells working there. The "Golden Rule" is not even practiced. The guests are treated like gold (as it should be) but the employees are treated like slaves. The working environment in housekeeping is extremely toxic. You literally dread coming to work. I didn't even mention the drama amongst some housekeeping employees. Unless you're one of the lucky ones to stay in Lana'i City proper, the resort will be your employee housing, which can be good or bad. If it wasn't for the above, I would have stayed. You have to wait at least six months to be transferred to another department and I wasn't going to take six months of extreme toxicity just for that. I don't recommend taking a housekeeping position as you will regret it sooner than later.

Pros

Very friendly staff. Straightforward job with good pay. Overall an enjoyable job.

Cons

Inconsistent hours. Burnout can occur if you're looking for something easy. Other than that its pretty much exactly what you'd expect. Good job to have.

Pros

Free nights Lots of paid sick time (use it; trust me, everyone uses it as extra vacation, and it fully replenishes every year) Paid holidays Good benefits

Cons

Communication is terrible; act first, communicate later. Constant shifting goalposts; it seems like, before we can nail down one new kpi or project, an exec got bored and created a new one. The brand seems to have lost its roots since the founder left. If you are in FnB, you enjoy schedule flexibility, not here. If you are full-time, you will always work 40 hours unless you use vacation, and hotels are exhausting. Trading shifts is not a thing. There's no technical training. There's a lot of mandatory training, but it only covers work culture topics. Your direct manager will rarly be available since they seem to be in a meeting every hour of the day.
