Pros
They offer their employees good insurance.
Cons
Where do I start? You are given very high goals, if you don't make your sales quota, you are at risk for losing your job. You are in competition with your store manager for sales, because now they get commission. Nobody owns a customer at Fred Meyer Jewelers. If a customer comes in and asks for you, and you are not there, good luck at getting even part of the sale. Your coworkers and manager now can get 3% commission if they do a percentage over their goal, so there is no "team work", that doesn't exist anymore. What you can expect are your fellow coworkers being dishonest and stealing sales. There is extreme favoritism within the stores. If you don't lie about your coworkers, steal sales, and you aren't a brown noser to the management, there is no future here for you. If you are overweight, or you are not a heterosexual, and you don't look like a version of Barbie with a painted face, prepare to be treated as if you don't belong. The manager gets a lower sales goal because supposedly they have "tons of paperwork to do". Please, the employees do the shipping and receiving, and checking in of merchandise, and the "daily reports". Oh, and you will get written up by your manager if you write any sale prices on a card, or tell the customers that you have an upcoming sale. Hello?!!! There is a sale every other weekend, and the customers get notified by email if there is an upcoming sale. The company has completely downhill since Pete Engel took over the company. You are no longer an appreciated employee, now you are just a number. There is a huge turnover in this company. They do not pay their employees what they are worth. Sure, you can live off of what you make, if you want to live in poverty level. Fred Meyer Jewelers does not give raises. If you want to make more money, then you better sell their care plans on the items you sell. You have a quota on getting credit applications, your sales, your watch protection plans, and lifetime jewelry care plans. If you don't make your quota, look for a new job.
