Pros

Pretty good pay good benefits, quarterly safe production bonuses, and a discretionary bonus at the end of the year depending on how well the company did on production and the price of copper. As a diesel mechanic I was given annual raises and when a higher level position was available after 6 months in my current role I was able to apply for that next level higher paying position. The company does a decent job of showing its quarterly results in safety and production.

Cons

Typical small town mine atmosphere (everyone knows everyone). A little of the buddy system going on here, not too bad. 12 hr shifts but had lots of days off. living in a small mining town is pretty boring but quiet. When the price of copper drops below 2.20 a pound they made cutbacks forcing early retirement, cut over time and made mine plan changes but didnt have layoffs
