Pros
Excellent place to start a career. Was giving a high level of responsibility by management and expected to deliver. Cost of living is very cheap if in a company town (Morenci/Bagdad). Having worked for several mining companies, Freeport's safety culture is at the top of the industry. Good pay and bonuses for new graduate engineers.
Cons
Morenci is a remote location which can make getting away or to a city difficult. I often spent 4-5 hours on a Friday and Sunday driving to where I wanted to get to and back, with only a small amount of time to spend there. I think this is a major reason younger metallurgists and engineers only spend a couple of years here before moving on.
