Pros

As an route sales rep you earn a decent annual salary. Most of the stores you service are good to work with. Fully employer funded pension (5 years min. service for any benefit, retirement after 30 years).

Cons

Long, long hours, 50-60 per week. Little flexibility in scheduling. Commission was very low in the slow seasons. When you divide hours worked by the weekly salary it often $15 per hour. Variable Rate Over Time (VROT) is a joke. Hours worked over 40 hours IS NOT paid at time and a half. Extra hours add very little to your paycheck. Say the job as running your own business, however, boss will micro-manage what you should do and make immature jokes about sleeping with your coworkers.

Pros

Pay is ok and great benefits.

Cons

No work life balance. Held accountable for more and more and way too much micro managing lately. Routes are uneven some heavy and some baby routes. Routes run 7 days a week while other vendors dont. You work every holiday except Christmas unless a holiday is on your day off. Plus you work every weekend you work unless your one of the lucky ones. And if something happens in your personal life you have to deal with it after working long hours too much of a pain to call in. They love to say you will be held accountable as its almost a threat.
