Job during Covid (Frito will never not work their employees - good/bad) Robust Benefits package (changed over the years as its fewer benefits for higher percentage of our pay)
Cons
1. Major Management Issues - a. They are hired fresh out of college without any experience. Do NOT understand managing employees or the business. b. Won't listen to either seasoned employees or employees who are relatively new with good input. c. Are argumentative, patronizing, rude, clueless d. Write ups are done for stupid, nonsensical reasons that should not hold up. e. Leave as soon as they can so the turnover is ridiculous. f. Need major HR training as they do not understand or appreciate how to manage employees g. No desire to meet you in your store when you start your route (4a) because they are busy, don't care about your route, don't care about the train wreck you are walking in to and don't care to help you fix the train wrecks. It's a bit hard to fix something that you don't understand and don't want to understand 2. No HR professionals in Indianapolis a. If you need something you have to go to your manager. But if you have an issue with your manager there is NO employee support to assist as there's no HR professionals in the Indianapolis office. 3. Store Management There are some store managers who do not like Frito Lay and will do whatever they can to help the failure of the RSR in their store. There are some that work towards kicking out every RSR that has been in their store. The Frito Management is young, inexperienced and does not support their employees so each Frito employee is on their own to fend for themselves 4. General Issues a. Upper management sets your sales plans WELL above where they should be. You can kill yourself to meet these goals but sometimes IMPOSSIBLE is IMPOSSIBLE. b. Used to do events to bring people together but no longer do that and don't really seem to want to make sure you know who you are working with. The turnover is so bad it's hard to keep track of people coming and going c. Management does write ups for things that sales reps have NO control over. If someone is messing something up and you inherit it, hold your breath because they are going to dump it on you through a write up. If you have no control and can't fix it the problem isn't going away but they don't care they wrote someone up. d. Managers will allow some shenanigans to go on forever and do NOTHING about it regardless of who brings it to their attention. That's because to do something you have to know something and they don't want to know. It's obvious they have no HR training because there is no consistency. e. Bidding for vacation is ridiculous - How many people know where they are going and when to take off for the entire year? NO Employer expects you to schedule your vacation a year in advance. We have lives, kids and outside interests and things come up that we see that we'd like to do but we can't because we locked our unknown vacation time in a year in advance. This is beyond stupid and unrealistic.
