Pros

On paper the FP&A department looks like a good place to work. The job descriptions look relatively interesting. That's where the pros end...

Cons

Nearly everything about how the FP&A department is run is a disaster. There are at least weekly fire drills of unplanned and disorganized chaos, most of which ends up being busywork. The culture is awful, and the leadership is busy pointing fingers and yelling at everyone except themselves, particularly when the problems are due to structural issues with the company. Everything leadership says about FP&A being a good place to work, to get ahead, to learn, is a lie. Promotions are basically nonexistent, even if you are deserving. The hours are long and erratic, often for no reason, again just busywork nonstop. This is made worse by the fact that the pay is at least 20% below market rate and the benefits are awful.

Pros

It pays “some” of my bills.

Cons

I want to begin by expressing my disappointment with the union’s representation of its members. There is a significant lack of transparency and consistent communication, leaving many employees feeling uninformed and disconnected from the bargaining process. From my perspective, aircraft mechanics working under this contract are compensated well below the industry standard despite the critical role we play in maintaining safety and operational reliability. It often feels as though these concerns are not being adequately addressed or prioritized. Unfortunately, the current environment has made this airline feel more like a temporary stepping stone than a place where skilled mechanics can build long-term careers. Until meaningful improvements are made to compensation, communication, and representation, I believe retaining experienced technicians will continue to be a challenge.
