Pros
Short reserve time. Relatively quick hiring process. Good place to get your foot in the door in the industry.
Cons
The first time you step on a plane will be during your IOE most likely. The pay is low compared to the mainline legacy carries but you should already know this going into it. The union is a complete joke and epitomizes how antiquated unions are in today’s workforce. You can join them or not but they’re getting their dues from your paychecks over the course of six months. If you don’t pay, cool, they can ask to have you fired. You pay for your uniforms is $300 minimum; my advice is only get what you need nothing more. If you leave or change roles, you won’t be invested too much. HR, bidding, and scheduling are not covered in initial training until the last two days. Be prepared for a firehose of information in the form of a PowerPoint or Skype call to the class. You’ll need to find a colleague who’s got some experience to help you out. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
