GAF has had a transformation from a family feel to a heartless corporation. Actually they have always acted like this. Look back at fallout of the ELK and United Coatings aqusations. Instead of holding people accountable for their performance, they wait until a large RIF to get rid of people. Nepotism runs wild and decisions are made arbitrarily. No one knows who's running the show. No one knows who they report to or why and then it will change again.
The ultra wealthy owners get to boast in Forbes about their $1.5b EBITA after completely dropping the ball during the pandemic. Seriously who elects mass layoffs and furloughs and then boasts about their record earnings months later. Of course just like with the tax breaks in 17-18, employees didn't see a dime.
If you are lucky enough to leave on your own you will be treated like the enemy and ghosted by everyone toting the company line fearful of association. Forget it if you are terminated. You might as well be dead, not "alumni" like some companies. Prepare for a difficult divorce when you leave.
Remember these are your colleagues not your family despite their efforts to try and convince you. They don't actually care about you and you are replaceable.
