Pros

Work at GEHC still matters to the world and is a noble endeavor. Great place to learn your craft and move on after a couple of years to a more enlightened and modern employer. Very diverse and inclusive culture.

Cons

Leadership team is firmly planted into obsolete management model. Matrixed organization has been abandoned by most modern corporations, but sadly not GEHC. Leadership team doesn't have a clue on making "gut" decisions and far too often spends valuable time dithering on key decisions. Paralysis through analysis is very much a thing at GEHC. These delays have meant missing the market in many cases and we're playing catch up. Offshore leadership often takes credit for work they're not actually doing and there is little to no accountability. Offshore engineering team members lack critical thinking skills required for the job and often need to be spoon fed. Criticism from our customers isn't managed at all and feedback isn't often incorporated into product engineering. Technical obsolescence isn't managed, with technical debt ignored for years. When a third-party component becomes end of support leadership wants the fix instantly, but as was pointed out previously it would take several months to resolve.

Pros

-a lot of smart and talented people work here -reasonable pay and benefits -nice coworkers -some remote work opportunities, albeit decreasing over time

Cons

-mixed leadership - some good leaders, some terrible ones -ridiculously onerous processes - their QMS system is ludicrously conservative and involves literally hundreds of documents to make one product -sourcing takes 10x longer than it should -tolerance of poor performers and way too high a bar to get rid of them -bad annual raises - often lower than inflation these past few years - and weakly based on personal performance
