Pros

- Competitive Salary and Benefits: The compensation package at GHD is excellent. The salary is competitive, and the benefits are comprehensive, which makes the financial aspect of the job very attractive. - Positive Performance Feedback: My performance reviews were consistently good, and I received positive feedback on my work, indicating a supportive environment for professional growth. - Good Work-Life Balance: The company promotes a healthy work-life balance, which is crucial for maintaining personal well-being.

Cons

- Lack of Job Security: My biggest concern with GHD is the lack of job security. Despite having good performance reviews and contributing positively to the team, I was abruptly terminated. This decision came out of nowhere and was justified as a “corporate decision” due to "company needs." - Unclear Communication: There was no clear communication or forewarning about the possibility of termination. I was informed on a Friday evening, out of nowhere—not even a meeting scheduled, nothing, just the income call—without any notice period or prior indication that my position was at risk. - Questionable Hiring Practices: Based on my experience, I suspect that the company might replace higher-paid employees with cheaper labor. This approach undermines the trust and loyalty of dedicated employees. - No Notice Period: The termination was immediate, with no two weeks' notice or transition period. This left me in a challenging situation, scrambling to find new employment without any buffer time. - Irresponsible HR Practices: I believe the human resources department is very irresponsible. Why bother hiring someone if they believe the pay is too high? This reflects poor planning and management from the HR team.

Pros

Great starting point as an internship, gives you good experience to the professional and consulting world, pay for an engineering intern is satisfactory. Values of the company and support from coworkers is appreciated. Seems to be a psychologically safe place to work and make mistakes. No noticeable workplace toxicity or politics. Everyone seems to be authentic and chill. Not noticing anyone keeping their heads down and received reports of satisfaction with work environment from coworkers. Exposure to a variety of projects, including field work experiences. Seems to be a solid resume builder.

Cons

Need to be pretty proactive for work. For me who enjoys having work to do, its kind of stressful. You have to take initiative in making your own plan. For someone who thrives in structure and needs a bit of help in planning, this is a struggle. Limited flexibility in doing a hybrid role (even though job description stated it was when I applied) For someone who is 42 mi from the office and with heavy traffic takes 1h 15 min to reach the office, its a struggle. But I understood that my commute time is longer than average when I took the position.
