Pros
Well supported by management. Work/life balance is exceptionally good. Respected (if a little distant) from the business. Reward is good overall, but base salaries are not as good as peers. Fantastic values, which the company genuinely lives (scandals are the result of very isolated and vehemently rejected behavior). High performing colleagues across the business.
Cons
Bureaucracy is endemic. A slow moving company internally and strongly influenced by its scientific base (i.e. do everything technically properly without thinking about the commercial realities). Getting better, but some way to go. Career progression opportunities limited, but many people find a level that they are happy with and stay until retirement.
