Pros
You are helping patients. Doing work that actually matters. The people here also care about the patients and the main vision of the company, or so it was until Roche took over.
Cons
No career advancement, dependent on which department you are in. It is also very hard to move horizontally to another function. They say they want to keep employees happy and have them learn about the business, but I hardly see any side of that. Also, the salaries at Genentech is at the national Mean, not average. Basically we are paid below the industry and we live in a very expensive city.
