Pros
The pay and benefits were pretty good until recent cutbacks (partially due to military cuts and a generally "down" economy). The work can be interesting and challenging.
Cons
A lot of bad management decisions have been buffered by the ridiculous profit margins that defense contracts often have. As the government becomes more fiscally responsible, this problem will need to be addressed. These bad decisions often result in missed opportunities or more work for those at the bottom of the food chain.
