Pros
For a time I had a 9/80 work schedule - every other Friday off. That was nice for taking weekend trips. I had no work stress in the sense of constant deadlines and late nights. If you're persistent you can move around the company and try different jobs.
Cons
no culture, no community - no idea what others are working on, why it matters, what's next etc. Benefits dwindled the last 10yrs I was there. Many years of 0-2% raises, regardless of ranking. Politics.
