Pros
Gun products are cutting edge and exciting to work on. Seeking technological niches in very focused areas. Frequently have wide range of responsibilities and outstanding ability to influence product design. Vermont is a great place to live; great family values, minimal traffic, plenty of outdoor activities, relatively affordable for engineers.
Cons
Generally not interested in being a technological innovator. Salaries and raises are loosing ground to cost of living. Taxes and in state tuition costs are VERY high. Management has extremely wide range of competence; a few are the best that I've ever worked with, a few are much worse than the previous that I've ever worked with. Root cause of the bad management is non-engineer educated or experienced being the bosses of large engineering groups. Business development does not tap into engineering experts while considering future products.
