Not good if you're a science graduate student - Graduate Research Assistant George Mason University Employee Review

Pros

The academics at the university are wonderful. Research is in interesting and relevant areas of science. Advisors can either be great help, or not much at all. Work-life balance is as good or bad as you choose to make it.

Cons

Pay is awful. Do not expect to work as graduate teaching assistant or graduate research assistant and expect to live comfortable unless living with 3+ people. Administration is horrendous and does not care about graduate student concerns. Collaboration between researchers is mostly non existent, which I believe is missed opportunity. Amount of work required is insane for the pay if you are a teaching assistant. If you are a research assistant, work tends to be more tame. Expect to feel underappreciated.
