Pros
Would recommend working at the Registrar’s Office with MSSC. It's essentially a remote receptionist position. About 50% of the job is answering questions via phone and email regarding class registration, forms, and graduation. The other 50% of calls is redirecting students to the correct office to discuss their questions. Generally, you get the most calls and emails during "peak times" which are course registration periods and graduation. Managers are helpful and supportive in handling difficult callers. Overall, easy to learn with/without prior experience.
Cons
Still customer service so some callers don't take "no" well. Callers frequently vent their frustrations at you, even if the issue isn't your fault or even related to your office. Many students don't know which office they need to contact so a large portion of the job involves redirecting students to the correct office, which frustrates them. Would NOT recommend working in Financial Aid or Student Accounts MSSC. Those offices handle loan/scholarship/grant distributions and tuition payments, leading to more calls, more disgruntled callers, and less downtime compared to the Registrar. The pay is minimum wage for students workers.
