Pros

Competitive compensation package. Paid company shut down in July and December. Great CEO and new executive leadership team.

Cons

Unfortunately, the old Gilead is still present in most groups were middle management was promoted to executive directors/group heads. The results is a lack of adherence to the new vision and company values put in place by the new CEO and a pervasive toxic work culture making it difficult to affect positive change. Lack of direct and transparent communication. Lack of collaboration, with silos reinforced by older management. Lack of upskilling of many employees with long tenures at Gilead and reluctance to adopt ideas brought in by new employees. Lack of career growth opportunity.

Pros

Meaningful, mission-driven work with the opportunity to contribute to projects that can have a real impact on patients. Colleagues are highly knowledgeable, supportive, and generally willing to provide mentorship. Gilead also offers strong resources, exposure to different functions within the pharmaceutical industry, and opportunities to work on high-visibility projects.

Cons

Cons: As with many large companies, decision-making and project approvals can sometimes move slowly because of multiple layers of review. The experience may also vary depending on the specific team and manager, and the number of meetings and internal processes can occasionally feel cumbersome.
