Pros

I took a 50,000 dollar pay cut in my salary/OTE to work at GitLab because I heard so many great things. Easy career growth, a team that wants you to succeed, flexible working hours, etc. Do NOT be fooled. Remote Work is a plus, and for the most part all of my co-workers were pretty awesome. GitLab itself tries really hard to make the company have a great and inclusive culture, and I think it exceeds in that EXCEPT for in their Sales org. Oh, also the benefits are pretty excellent, great health insurance.

Cons

Difficult monthly quota to hit without the ability to prospect and get your own leads. This leads to some months being lather lackluster The pay for this sort of position is pretty low. You set up a deal for 500k+ and get 30-40 bucks for it. Although they offer unlimited PTO, good luck hitting your quota if you ever take time off. Like I said, this is an inbound gig. To hit your quota, you essentially have to book a meeting and have a qualified meeting EVERY SINGLE DAY. If you take time off, that rhythm is disrupted and you also lose out on all of the leads that should have been routed to you. Although GitLab prides itself in its transparency, there is NO decorum in the slightest when it comes to its sales processes. You hear something different every day depending on who you talk to about what you should and shouldn't be doing. On top of that, you have teammates constantly stealing YOUR leads and capitalizing off of the work you've done prior. For example, you work a lead, they say they'll talk to you in two months. They reach back out and someone on your team will swoop in on that within seconds, delete your salesforce comments and work it themselves. Having to constantly go to managers to audit this and get credit on things stolen from you when you're stressed about hitting quota is extremely toxic.

Pros

Best company I've ever worked for. Strong culture, great leadership, competitive compensation, excellent work life balance, and a genuine focus on employee well being and career growth.

Cons

Fast paced environment and high expectations, but that's part of working at a successful, growing company.

Pros

OK pay or benefits in the market. Fully remote. Still is trying to frame itself as a big player.

Cons

Leadership went from being collaborative, communicative, and transparent, to being mercurial, secretive, and out of touch with the actual work. OBSESSSES over your AI usage metrics - even if AI doesn't help you and slows you down. The current layoff in progress was communicated poorly and not planned at all. And now they want us to adore the leaders and the company? Cultish vibes. We went from a company that plans ahead to a company that reacts.
