Pros
Lunch 4x week. The people are great, of those who haven’t left yet. Boston office leadership is trying their best to turn morale around.
Cons
GA pre-KKR acquisition vs now are two completely different firms. Cultural differences are massively inhibiting the so called integration. Half the office has been laid off, or quit before they could be laid off. Management thinks they’re hiding layoffs, but all they’re doing is causing massive tension and panic amongst employees trying to figure out if they’re next. The pay is far below market. They’re happy to promote you, but don’t expect much of a raise with it. The current compensation strategy incentivizes people to leave the firm. They’ll happily hire an external candidate and pay them far more, as much as 40-70k more than what you make, then act confused and offended that everyone’s leaving. We’re “one firm” with KKR, except in culture, attitude, pay, and everything else. How are you expecting everyone to hold hands and sing kumbaya when our peers at KKR are making 70k+ what we make and treat us all like children? Somehow, everyone is powerless when you ask for a raise. Everyone at the firm is in a constant state of waiting for the next year-end (for their promised promotion/raise) which never actually happens. Work life balance? Haven’t heard of it. Morale couldn’t be lower. Oh, and we’re not allowed to say Global Atlantic anymore. We’re now “the insurance business”….yeah ok.
