Pros

Most people are enjoyable to work with and helpful. There are a good amount of opportunities to learn. A lot of freedom if you're salary and you can work from home if needed. The Atlanta leadership team are good people and for the most part have at least tried to make people happy after the merger with Heartland.

Cons

Global is big on outsourcing so there isn't much opportunity anymore in the Jeffersonville office if you're in IT. The offshore/outsourced employees are completely useless and have little to no knowledge of what they're doing so when there are issues or outages the U.S. based teams have to figure it out and resolve it anyway. The same mistakes keep being made and individuals who have no leadership ability are put into leadership roles. Many people are underpaid, undervalued, and overworked which is why people continue to leave the company. Management receives the lion's share of compensation and depending on what department you're in you'll be lucky to get a bonus if you aren't a manager even if you're more valuable to the company and you've put in more work and longer hours.

Pros

Hands-On Experience with Modern Infrastructure Friendly and Supportive Culture Great Resume Builder Work-Life Balance If you value a supportive team culture, a manageable workload, and building high-scale professional project experience, a Global Payments internship is a fantastic stepping stone, especially for launching a career in FinTech or platform engineering.

Cons

Uncertainty Around Full-Time Pipeline Varying Tech Stacks by Team: Because the company encompasses many different product lines and acquired systems, your experience can vary wildly depending on the specific team you land on. Some teams work on cutting-edge, next-gen cloud platforms, while others are tasked with maintaining or upgrading older legacy architectures.
