Pros
The only positive is if this is your first job. You will go in very optimistic and find out what a horrible IT shop looks/feels like. You will gain perspective when you find a better job and value yourself more as a result. The problems aren’t a result of the IT teams. This is a result of lack of time/funding invested into modernization. It will bite them in time.
Cons
Where do I start? Codebase: -Pay, pay is horrible across the board. I did a lateral move to a new company and received a 48% raise without the pressure of going to an office -Nothing is modern -Nothing is stable -Upper management is completely disconnected from IT (the people that make them money). -Robotic sales driven culture (I know sales are necessary but we constantly ran into over-promise/under-deliver scenarios because of “yes men” sales people) -Covid hits, we are allow to work remote and adjust the whole fabric of our lives to do so. Covid calms down and they want us back in office… they expect attrition and don’t have to pay unemployment this way. -No room for advancement of skill set with the architecture in place I could keep going, please find a different place to work if you value your self as an engineer; this is where developers go to die.
