Pros

Transaction processing is a complex industry, so there are constantly opportunities for learning if you pursue them. Acquisitions also keep things interesting.

Cons

Company is constantly in a "fire drill;" management does not invest in people and has a reactionary mindset rather than a proactive approach. Employees are constantly strapped for time to get anything done, so the environment does not foster finding new, better approaches to doing things. There's just not enough time. Also, there is a lack of career development and training. For a technology company, it's surprising the lack of PC support, antiquated systems, etc. The majority of the executive/senior management team has changed in the last several years, which coincides with a decline in the environment.

Pros

Hands-On Experience with Modern Infrastructure Friendly and Supportive Culture Great Resume Builder Work-Life Balance If you value a supportive team culture, a manageable workload, and building high-scale professional project experience, a Global Payments internship is a fantastic stepping stone, especially for launching a career in FinTech or platform engineering.

Cons

Uncertainty Around Full-Time Pipeline Varying Tech Stacks by Team: Because the company encompasses many different product lines and acquired systems, your experience can vary wildly depending on the specific team you land on. Some teams work on cutting-edge, next-gen cloud platforms, while others are tasked with maintaining or upgrading older legacy architectures.
