Pros
* smart colleagues, competitive but good for type A * if you have patience and are a performer in your task, you will get rewarded * compensation has been very good, no complaints if you believe in work rendered=work paid * if you are senior enough, proactive enough and have demonstrated a track record of sorts, senior management will support new efforts
Cons
* you are on call always, firm owns your life (but only fair if they are paying that much and if you enjoy what you do this is not a problem) * you need to perform * big firm means that it is very hard to be jack of all trades, start up kind of person (this is why I left, my own personal desire to be in a smaller environment) * you can be in a friendly group or unfriendly group, you need to pick the group you join carefully
