Goodwill was simply a paycheck for me, as I was simply a number to them. - Retail Associate Goodwill Employee Review

Pros

I have worked part-time for Goodwill Industries for almost 6 years while attending high school and college. They have very flexible scheduling and I have met SOME pretty great people.

Cons

Goodwill has unrealistic expectations for their goals and quota, especially for how little they pay. Each year they give a TINY raise, maximum 3%. Corporate is greedy and management is filled with drama. There's practically a new manager every year and new regular retail employees every month-three months, not exaggerating. I think that says in itself how well this company treats their employees. Their mission? Please...one of the least genuine companies out there. Also, I would like to add that I exceeded the goals and quota they had set for me. I was an excellent employee who was punctual, professional, hardworking, and provided great customer service. They always told me I was a good employee. However, I tried time and time again to move up in the company. They would not even give me a single interview. They reasoned that I had no experience for any other position, so I could not move up. How am I supposed to gain experience when they wont give me a chance? And for that reason among many, is why I am leaving the company.

Pros

There is not a single "pro" to be listed.

Cons

The entire corporate office is beyond ignorant. Completely out of touch with reality, price gouging customers trying to raise profit margins for the non profit. Everyday at any second one call from corporate and there is a change to how everything has to be done, usually causing more issues only to blame people who had nothing to do with their ideas. They don't let the store manager be a store manager.. in fact, I'll sum up everything you need to know in one sentence.. they went as far as to install systems to remotely control the thermostat from their comfy corporate office. Imagine not just the employees but the customers constantly complaining. That is how out of touch with reality they all are.
