Great Coworkers, But Inconsistent Management and Compensation - Account Executive Goosehead Insurance Employee Review

Pros

Most of the coworkers are friendly and make the office an enjoyable place to work. During onboarding, new hires are welcomed with team lunches, happy hours, and other events that help build relationships and create a great first impression. The office is generally flexible if you're out visiting referral partners, and there are snacks available in the office. Management can be supportive when you need guidance, and the office is in a convenient location. One thing to note is that many of the perks offered during onboarding and first few weeks didn't continue long term. The Friday lunches, team lunches, and happy hours all stopped after about the first month of employment.

Cons

The biggest concern was the compensation structure. When I accepted the position, I was told the base salary would remain in place for one year unless my commissions exceeded that amount. After about four months, the compensation was changed to commission-only. Following employee complaints, the company reversed the decision for some employees, but not everyone. The way compensation changes were handled felt unprofessional and created uncertainty. Management quality can be inconsistent. Some managers are very supportive, while others seem to treat employees differently based on recent performance. There is a high level of pressure to meet production goals, and the compensation does not always reflect the workload, expectations, and stress of the role. The office culture also had room for improvement. Former employees were sometimes spoken about negatively, which created an unprofessional and, at times, toxic atmosphere. Despite the role being computer-based, employees were generally not allowed to work from home. From conversations with others, Goosehead's corporate offices appear to have a different compensation structure than many agency offices. If you're considering Goosehead, I would recommend comparing opportunities at a corporate office versus an independent agency to understand the differences before accepting an offer.

Pros

I’ve had a great experience at Goosehead, especially after moving into a Sales Manager role. The company gives people the opportunity to advance quickly if they’re willing to put in the work. I enjoy coaching and developing new agents, and it’s rewarding to see them grow both professionally and financially. The culture is energetic, leadership invests in training, and top performers are recognized. Like any sales organization, expectations are high and the pace is fast, so it isn’t the right fit for someone looking for a typical 9-to-5. But if you’re self-motivated, coachable, and enjoy competition, there are a lot of opportunities for career growth and strong earning potential.

Cons

Fast-paced environment with high expectations, so you have to be self-driven to succeed.
