IC Engineers are terrific to work with, and highly empathetic as they work through extremely challenging new innovation, building something that's never quite been done before. The problem spaces are fascinating, and there's lot of space to explore independently.

Cons

Alignment and visibility of the company leadership can be challenging at times. The scope of the engineering effort is extremely wide in comparison to team size.
