Pros

Tuition benefit Office space Average time off

Cons

The human resources department at Grand Canyon Education is rotten at the top. There was a recent leadership change, and with that came a complete shift in culture for the department, resulting in the loss of TONS of amazing, capable people. There is emphasis on all of the wrong things (working in office as opposed to at home, bringing in outside people with years of experience instead of promoting internally to help foster growth in employees, etc.) and not enough emphasis on the right things (pay increases, work/life balance, mental health awareness). Also, marking a disapproval of the CEO, Brian Mueller, as everything points back to the leadership, especially when one of your core bad apples is a VP.

Cons

I have truly wrestled with what to write in this review, as I do believe there have been good aspects of the role over the past 4 years. However, I think prospective employees deserve a clear understanding of the role that is not included in the job description. This is a quota-based role. As a UDR, you are responsible for monthly metrics that must be met. It is a strictly sales job, and those coming from a previous higher education background will soon be shocked. To truly thrive in this role, a sales background is needed and the ability to work 50-plus hours a week. If you do not meet your student enrollments, you will be placed on an improvement plan. If you thrive in a fast-paced setting with continuous pressure to be more and do more, this is the role for you.
