I can’t even make this up. There was a town hall meeting where the CEO addressed people’s “concerns”. One of the major items of discussion was the rats in the Quincy office. CEO goes on to say that if anyone sees the rats the most, it’s him (because he’s there the earliest and the latest out of anyone). He then proceeded to tell the company that they can “suck it up” for the next few months until they move into the new Granite HQ that is being built. Felt like I was watching an episode of South Park, but sadly, it was real.
Mandatory 4 days a week in office when everyone’s jobs can be done from home. My director wasn’t even in my office and yet, I was still required to be in. (This also changed 3 different times since I started at Granite. Wouldn’t be surprised if everyone is back in office 5 days a week and wearing a tie everyday.)
Nobody seems to know what their job responsibilities are and it causes a lot of finger pointing between departments. You’ll end up wearing many hats in the sales role and never get compensated fairly for it. Some of your deals won’t convert which means you won’t get commission, and it’s all out of your control after you close the deal. You’re literally in the hands of the ops department which is full of temporary workers that are underpaid and overworked.
Lack of support from upper management. Rob Hale (CEO) will tell the sales team that we need to just get ‘bigger’ deals… like yeah that’s what we’re trying to do except every big deal we get, the rollout process usually goes up in flames & it’s out of your control (& guess who has to tell the customer).
Upper management refuses to accept that their outdated processes are the reason customers leave (oh and sales reps get chargebacks if their customers leave within a certain time frame!).
Granite’s main source of revenue is POTS (which is a dying technology). They acquired a POTS-replacement, EPIK, and it works probably ~50% of the time. Even some of the engineers say it was a bad investment & that’s what Granite is basing their ‘Granite 2.0’ phase on…
Favoritism is REAL here. I had 2 deals get stripped from my name after I did all of the work on them. Never ended up getting commissions from those deals that were given to other sales reps, and that was my final straw.
Office is generally unwelcoming to women (constantly hearing sexist and inappropriate remarks). Definitely not a professional environment, and it shows by the lack of women in the ATL office. There's not really one person in particular, the office/entire sales department has a culture of being a 'good ole boys club'. Just know, if you're a woman and you get promoted, you won't be taken out to a day of golf like your male counterparts... LOL
