Pros
Non-clique- the company has a very close knit feel with most employees treating others like close friends and families. I didn't feel like I was stuck choosing a clique in high school as some companies felt like. Professional development- the company offers tons of professional development training throughout the year Good benefits- The company covers a large portion of benefits making benefits cheap for the employer while still offering quality health care
Cons
Low pay- The pay for TAs and demands don't mesh. A lot was asked of us for pay that was not great. Little support for new TAs- TAs at some Academies are expected to teach one subject independently in K-5. There is little support in the way of gathering materials and getting prepared. It is expected that during class time the TA is circling the room and the TA is always on recess duty. It leaves very little time for lesson planning unless you work at home unpaid. Unfairly paid- Some employees were paid well more as starting points than those with more training, schooling, and experience. Unpaid holidays- All days off of school are unpaid, weather its the summer, another school break, or a holiday. It made yearly income very difficult to live on.
