Pros

Wages, and some machines have Incentive pay.

Cons

Terrible work environment. Lie to potential employees in interview about overtime. They don't mention that you will be on call, and held over frequently. You will work several Saturdays during the year. Management and employees have low moral. Discipline is unevenly handed out. Company doesn't follow own policies. I caught covid due to them letting a covid infected employee stay at work. Will harass employees to quit. Training has no set standard to follow, and they will have people run machines with little training. The union is a joke. The reps will not back up the contracts. I was told by the international Union guy that even though you have points to use, and work 50-60 hours a week, with Saturdays, " You can't just call off when you want," needed or not. This company will brag about the people that they have working there 30yrs plus, but they have a very high turn over rate for how they treat employees.

Pros

The pros of working in the department included decent benefits minus minimal vacation times. Other areas of the company seem decent for culture but not there.

Cons

The management of corporate E&S is dysfunctional at best and abusive in reality. After the novelty of being the new hire wears off, you will face malicious comments and gossip, no positive/constructive feedback, scapegoat blame, extreme micromanagement, constantly changing expectations, etc. There is no psychological safety. Management will not provide resources for career development, protected time off, or flexible arrangements. If you won't quiet quit they will turn up the heat until they have to fire you. I watched others around me stop eating or sleeping and when I tried to talk about how I myself was feeling, a flyer for therapy was placed on my desk in response. So much love was shown to me by the staff at other facilities. Someone even expressed to me "out of everyone in corp E&S, you were the one that listened".
