Great pay. That's about it. - Machine Operator Green Bay Packaging Employee Review

Pros

Great pay if you have literally zero other career prospects.

Cons

Extreme and blatant nepotism within management. Most of the floor supervisors are the sons or family members of the plant manager. Some of their positions were made up simply to get them in the door once the place changed hands several years ago. You will also be worked 6 days a week 12 hours a day for the foreseeable future if anyone quits from a machine you're trained on. The union also does next to nothing for you here either and will typically roll over to any company demands each time the contract comes up for negotiation. You will be routinely expected to run stock on machines not designed for it, then reprimanded for not getting the order out fast enough. You will be expected to skirt rules and safety procedures when not being directly watched in order to keep up with demand. Supervisors and managers will turn a blind eye to this until they need an excuse to fire and rehire you. (They do this to strip your seniority if they don't like how long you've held a particular bid).

Pros

The pros of working in the department included decent benefits minus minimal vacation times. Other areas of the company seem decent for culture but not there.

Cons

The management of corporate E&S is dysfunctional at best and abusive in reality. After the novelty of being the new hire wears off, you will face malicious comments and gossip, no positive/constructive feedback, scapegoat blame, extreme micromanagement, constantly changing expectations, etc. There is no psychological safety. Management will not provide resources for career development, protected time off, or flexible arrangements. If you won't quiet quit they will turn up the heat until they have to fire you. I watched others around me stop eating or sleeping and when I tried to talk about how I myself was feeling, a flyer for therapy was placed on my desk in response. So much love was shown to me by the staff at other facilities. Someone even expressed to me "out of everyone in corp E&S, you were the one that listened".
