Pros

99% of the customers are great, quitting time

Cons

Where do I begin? Management plays obvious favorites, micro-manage and send spies into every branch. One of those "spies" told me she was sent into the branch to weed out employees to HR. While upper management has told mid management "men eat first here" middle management treats men as second class. Let me be clear, BOTH ARE WRONG. In order to move up you need to be in their clique otherwise you are stuck. BSA wants to know what you as an employee do with every penny in your account. Hours are inconsistent between who can be off when. It was ok for my boss and other managers to be off on one of the busiest days of the week but not me. They claim they want loans but then make their underwriting parameters too strict. They have no written policy until something happens. Senior Management does not think through decisions and how it will affect day to day growth and business (they don't cash their own checks for non-customers). They don't appreciate honesty and setting customer expectations. The process of reports is there to encourage lying. Terrible organization from the top right on down and the culture is one of fear and eggshells. Run from any job you see here.

Pros

- Small department, so easy to learn new things - You'll dip your hands in a little bit of everything - You won't be bored - I learned a lot, mostly by necessity - Guaranteed 10% bonus every year (not really guaranteed but has never not been given) - LGBTQ friendly rules and policies. As an ally, it's nice to see.

Cons

- Work-life balance is non-existent: Mandatory 45 hour work weeks and refusal to let anyone work remotely, unless it directly benefits the company. It's a bad look. A "my way or the highway" mentality. - Lots of tension and lack of communication from top to bottom. - Horrible benefits. Your standard high-deductible plan that will make you question every year why you pay the premiums. I would gladly pay more for better benefits. - Be prepared to open an account at the bank, whether you plan to use it or not. As a note, there are people there that I believe are trying to fix things, but it often felt like a losing battle. There was a slight sense of the tides changing before I left, so who knows what could change. The negatives are 100% on the management, mostly at the top level. There are good people working here otherwise. I do believe a lot of these points are subject to change. I do not absolutely despise my time here, as I believe it was just another fork in the road. There are good people working here and they deserve change for the better.
