Pros

Longevity within Greyhound not such the future of this organization since its acquisition.

Cons

Beware of discrimination and biases with Germany’s Flixbus Greyhound Line. The iconic 100-year company is known for many things. Flixbus acquired Greyhound in recent years 2021 to be exact. I am a DIVERSE applicant, middle-aged who recently interviewed for the Senior Business Recruiter position reporting to the Dallas, TX office. After 5 rounds of interviews with the SVP of Flixbus and the CEO of Greyhound, I received great feedback. Also, as a requirement to interview, I prepared a 60-Business Plan for Recruitment which is a rarity for interviewing in most cases however I was informed the business plan was impressive. During my interview with the CEO of Greyhound, we discussed biases, he stated there were none at Greyhound. To say this is untrue, as we all know too well the history of Greyhound discrimination cases against black Americans and people of color. Recent discrimination settlements, include EEOC settlements for discrimination of color, religious beliefs, and ageism. As I was initially willing to give the age-old company a chance to show Flixbus/Greyhound was on the curve of change and continuously implementing change management within their org by eliminating conscious/ unconscious biases under the new leadership of Kadir Boysan, CEO. Well, folks nothing has changed. I was recently informed they would not be moving forward as I was not culturally a fit to lead the Business Recruitment in Dallas, TX office. If they were to add additional senior recruiters, they would consider my candidacy. Granted I encompass a 15-year career as a Talent Acquisition /HR professional working for major Fortune 500 companies, as a Sr. TA Manager/Principal Recruiter, and as a diverse candidate I was not a cultural fit to lead Greyhound/Flixbus recruitment efforts. Flixbus/Greyhound's hiring process and apparent lack of progress toward eliminating biases and discrimination still exist. Flixbus/Greyhound you must actively work towards creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. It's important to recognize and address any biases and discrimination and actively work towards creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Job seekers, it's important to do our research on companies like this a be aware of any potential biases or discrimination. It's also important to speak up and report any instances of discrimination that you may experience during the hiring process or as an employee. As the fight against racism and discrimination continues to be difficult, we must continue to expose it. Bias racially driven organizations that blatantly discriminate have to be held accountable.

Pros

You will receive 9 hrs for rest time (unless there’s an issue) which is beneficial when over the road.

Cons

Payroll discrepancies will burden your time. It’s imperative to check your pay DAILY and submit claims immediately else your upcoming paycheck will be wrong. Do not expect management to help. You’ll rely on older drivers for input on and off the road. Runs are supposed to be assigned the day before and this is not reality. Expect late / early calls with misinformation. Mgmt will not honor your vacation block schedule (Mon 12:01 thru Sun 6am PTO week) and contact you for assignment. They will interrupt your vacation week in hopes you’ll take an assignment. Guaranteed days off are also a cause of friction. When your GDO approaches they will try to assign work then claim you forfeited the day off and need to continue in service. “Based off the needs of the operation” is their blanket excuse. You have to reach out to union rep and push back. If you report Fatigued more than once they will write you up. And this is after denying your guaranteed days off. Training is fast tracked and once OTR you’ll realize how much information was withheld. Especially during breakdowns or passenger escalation.
