I received no respect at the Bellingham Grocery Outlet. - Cashier Grocery Outlet Employee Review

Pros

I was friends with most of my co-workers, including most of the lower-level management.

Cons

The owner of the store does not (seem to) care at all about his employees. He makes sure that each and every one of his employees (except his favorites) knows that they are easily replaced. He gives people added responsibilities at the store, but no added pay, and usually no added respect (which is little to begin with). He is sickeningly sweet to you at first, until you do something (usually minor) to make him dislike you, in which case the sight of him will terrify you and make you run and hide, or at least want to. Just imagining him confronting me, calling my name over the intercom, or just seeing him made me feel extreme anxiety. Employees are not properly compensated for the work they do, and the people (customers and management) that they have to put up with. After a year of working there, the raise was $0.10, making a cashier's pay after a year's dedication to a company only $0.10 above minimum wage.
