Pros

Just coming from a larger company, it's so nice having more flexibility in my work. As an engineer, in any given day I might touch anywhere from the styling to the database queries. I really enjoy the full-stack nature of the work. Most of us tend to focus on one part of the tech stack, but it's nice stepping into new parts of the codebase. The company is growing steadily, and it's fun being able to meet new people as they join the company. The people are fun and pretty laid back. It's easy to get along with everyone. They're also very real - if they disagree with a direction or decision, that opinion is voiced. Discussions can be pretty back and forth, but it's good that a team can discuss important topics. Decent benefits. I get about three meals a week (sometimes more) catered at Grow. There are also always free snacks and drinks stocked. On top of that, there are usually food trucks outside for when lunch is not catered. Long story short, Grow is a great mid-stage startup. If like the flexibility and excitement of startups, but need the stability of a slightly more mature company, Grow is a great balance between the two!

Cons

Some might not like the flexibility. If you have a piece of the stack that you enjoy, you can generally stick to that. But you'll flourish best here if you can think outside the ticket, and solve bigger and more long-term problems. Benefits were a downgrade for me. I think they're pretty comparable to most tech companies in the area, but this might end up being a tradeoff for some. Direction of a team/feature is a little vague sometimes. That's the nature of startups - they don't have dozens of people working on a feature before it gets to development. This might be a turn off for some.

Good, smart humans working on some fun problems.

Cons

Fast paced environment. Opportunities to increase communication but not a deal breaker.

Pros

They have some great people working for the company. It was good to learn from them and build my network. The industry is a cool and exciting one to be in. Learning BI and data has been a valuable skill for me to grow my career.

Cons

I don't see Grow succeeding and they have been going down for a few years now. They make quick and drastic pivots to the product, marketing, and overall business model without giving time to see if the changes will actually work. That was extremely frustrating to deal with when I worked for them. They don't put enough money into the product to make it stable or add key features to make it competitive in the market. The product is a buggy mess and so frustrating to use. One of the reasons I left was because I was tired of using Grow and dealing with all the bugs it has constantly. It's also missing key features that even basic BI tools have. It's overpriced and difficult to sell and even more difficult to keep customers. I had a lot of hope for Grow but I'm just not seeing it succeeding anymore. They focus too much on the financials instead of making strategic business decisions. That is due to an Accountant being the right hand of the CEO. Unfortunately, I see more layoffs coming soon. Hopefully, the CEO isn't on vacation in Mexico this time like he was when they laid off most of the sales team.
