Pros
If you want a simple 9-5, here it is. You could work here for a while and work on side projects/businesses.
Cons
1. If you're outside the circle of friends running this place, they have very short-term memories when it comes to your accomplishments. I've heard them say awful things about their employees when they think they're out of earshot of others (mainly the VPs on the revenue side of the business). 2. Everything is "form over function". Examples: - the product looks pretty, but is completely bug-ridden and crashes constantly - most of the integrations the sales team sells customers on are not functional - the support team has to build everything for new clients because the interface is awful - "seen at work" is more important than "got work done". literally been told this by a manager 3. Leadership is stingy with equity (in the best case scenario of a $1B Grow IPO, 1000 shares would be worth ~$10,000 given current number of outstanding shares. That's unrealistic and several years away at best). 4. Also stingy with perks (e.g. "stocked kitchen" runs dry by Thursday) 5. And is not very competitive on pay and benefits. 6. Too much LDS church influence (occasionally prayers and "spiritual thoughts" happen in company meetings!!) 7. No women in leadership (or really any diversity). 8. Multiple cases of true nepotism (multiple cases of upper management with relatives working under them).
