Pros
I started at Grow when there were 8 other people at the company and I loved it. Rob was able to trust the people around him to do their jobs and found a lot of talented people to help him start the company. In true startup fashion, most of upper management had had some management experience, but for most of us it was our first time in leadership positions and I can say that because of the trust Rob had in us we were able to grow as individuals and I will forever be thankful for that. We had out challenges getting into an industry with some other major players but found our niche and ran full steam ahead. Sometimes I felt like we were taking on more than we could chew, but that was part of the fun! Solving problems and challenges as they would arise. Rob put a lot if money towards the well being of his teams by providing great benefits which were on par with more established companies, giving lots of time off and always having great company get togethers and parties. I will forever cherish my time there and hope that Grow can find its place and become a powerhouse in the BI space.
Cons
There were some growing challenges, trying to find market fit and dealing with a growing app that was unstable at times. I think a few years in we lost our fire and spark to be creative and settled into a realm of strict procedure that squashed a lot of people's drive to go above and beyond. I think efficiency is great, but not at the cost of what made Grow a fantastic place to work in the first place- passion.
